Lola Rosa

August 4th, 2008

Lola Rosa is a peculiar restaurant on Milton street next to McGill University. The crowd is young, mostly McGill students. Conversations about school, courses, teachers and ambitions are what dominates.

They don’t have menus. Instead, they are written on black boards on the walls; one wall for the main course and the other for drinks and desserts. A smaller black board next to the main courses shows a very limited selection of wines.

The food looks good and the portions are decent. Prices at pretty much average just like everywhere else in town.

Lola Rosa DrawerThe tables and chairs are old. They are almost antiques. Some of the chairs against the walls are actually benches fitting two people. The tables have drawers in them.

The one we were sitting at had pieces of papers with notes that were most likely left there by customers. Seeing that, rather than try to be original and come up with my own note, I slipped my business card in there. It saved me the trouble of thinking and writing any notes.

Lola Rosa is a fine place to hang out before or after going to class. For people who have no business in the neighboorhood, you will have a hard time looking for a place to park your car.
