Reasons Why I Chose the 8 GB iPhone 3G Instead of 16 GB

July 14th, 2008

As a user of the first generation iPhone, I know that 8 GB isn’t enough. I like to have all my music in my pocket and not have to choose which song or artist or album to sync. The videos and podcasts also take a lot of space. The addition of the App Store means adding applications to the iPhone and those application come in various sizes although most of them are less than 10 MB, some of them go over 50 MB like Cro-Mag Rally. If I am saying that 8 GB isn’t enough, why did I buy it anyway?

  1. Rogers went out of stock for the 16 GB version.
  2. I didn’t want to have waited in line for so long for nothing.
  3. With Rogers, consumers are eligible for a phone upgrade after one year. I will upgrade in one year to 16 GB and if there is a 32 GB version that launches, I will get that one.
  4. Applications can be re-downloaded free of charge once they have already been paid for, meaning that if I need space, I can just delete applications that I don’t use often. Should I need it again, I just download it again.
  5. Managing my music and videos isn’t so bad.
  6. I didn’t want to wait any longer.
