Limited Time iPhone Promotion From Rogers
As I was typing my previous post, I got wind that Rogers came up with a promotion that will last until August 31st, for the iPhone: 6 GB of data for $30/month. That seems to be their response to the pressure.
Upon learning that news, I waited a bit for people’s comments to come in. Generally, people are satisfied stating that it’s a little improvement on Rogers’ part. However, the lengthy 3-year contract remains a major concern as well as the useless system access fee. There is a petition circulating to support bill C-555 which should, among other things, remove system access fees. One major flaw of this promotion is that it’s a promotion and it will expire.
With this promotion, my estimate cost for three years of iPhone in Canada is close enough. Data is 6 GB instead of unlimited, but people should know that unlimited never means unlimited. For example, AT&T claims to offer unlimited data, but it’s actually capped at 5 GB. The value pack will cost me $15 instead of $11, but that’s fine. Although, Rogers could improve again by including Caller ID in all of its voice plans.
