identi.ca Is Like Twitter Without a Failing Whale
Or any other failing animal for that matter. It doesn’t even have a successful animal like flying birds. All kidding aside, identi.ca looks very much like Twitter, but asks a different question: “What’s up, username?”
identi.ca is a new service similar to Twitter. I just discovered it thanks to Montreal Tech Watch. Users can post updates that are limited to 140 characters and that only makes sense if updates could be sent via SMS, but that option isn’t available yet, so we can only suspect that might be allowed in the future.
identi.ca supports IM, OpenID and Open Microblogging, and it relies on the free microblogging tool Laconica. I suggest you read the article on Montreal Tech Watch for more details.
