The Ultimate Gift

August 20th, 2007

The Ultimate Gift is an adaptation from the book by Jim Stovall. This drama stars Drew Fuller as Jason Stevens for whom money has always been as natural as air. His relationship with his grandfather, Red Stevens, has been only about money and hatred. When Red dies, Jason thought that he would inherit money or even nothing, but instead he receives a series of gifts which ultimately lead to something that is much more precious than all the money in the world: the ultimate gift.

The first time I saw Drew Fuller was in a show called Black Sash in which he played a rebellious teenager sent to a martial arts school. Then, I saw him on the show Charmed as the son of an angel and a witch. In all his performances, he has always been great and he is an under-rated actor. If Lex Luthor on Smallville had hair, Drew Fuller would have been great for the part.

In The Ultimate Gift, he plays Jason, someone who has never worked a day in his life. He could solve everything with money and the people he surrounds himself with are pretty much taking advantage of him including his girlfriend. A rebellious part is a perfect fit for an actor like Drew Fuller whose acting is outstanding.

Ali Hillis plays Alexia, a single mother whose daughter Emily, played by Abigail Breslin, is a quick witted little girl with a sad secret. Both mother and daughter will have a great impact on Jason.

The tasks given to Jason by his late grandfather are not easy and simple and as viewers, we know whether Jason will succeed or not, but the movie makes the journey very interesting, captivating and moving.

The Ultimate Gift is a wonderful drama movie about respect, sacrifice, humility, hard work, compassion, wealth and love.
