What Do You Brag About?

August 3rd, 2007

In the early 90s, you could brag about having a computer. You could be the center of attention just by having one. After the mid-90s, it was cool to have access to the internet. If you had a website, you were a God. Having a CD-ROM also made you cool. During those days, I was only in high school, so it could be different outside those walls. I remember looking for companies that offer free internet and all you had to do was turn your monitor into an advertisement sign.

Around the turn of the century, people could brag about who had the fastest internet connection and who could download those pirated movies and softwares in the least amount of time. It didn’t really matte, because whoever was fastest ended up sharing/selling copies on 700 MB CDs. There were also people bragging about having a DVD-ROM.

Today, in 2007, what can we brag about? The iPhone? Having the latest Mac? I don’t think we can brag about having things anymore. Today, it’s all about talent. It’s about what we can do with what we have.

I have a shower at work and I love bragging about it. Being clean is way more important than… I don’t know, than being able to go on the internet. Wait, hold on a second… oh dear God, I really have to put some serious thought into that…
