Twitter is what I would call a status updater. It wants to answer the question “What are you doing?” You can let other people know what you are doing and you can also find out what others are doing.
It took me a few weeks to finally decide to join Twitter. I had to first answer some questions like why would I want to let others know what I’m doing and why would others be interested in what I’m doing. I couldn’t answer the latter and I still can’t. Only others can answer that for me.
For the first question, I would target my status towards clients so that they know what I’m doing. This way, there’s a decreased amount of emails asking “Hey Long, I’m just wondering how things are going”. So I joined Twitter with that goal in mind.
The badge is a neat feature because I can post my status on my website as you can see at the top of this page. Twitter allows to add friends so you can be kept updated with what others are doing. Notifications can be sent via instant messaging, email or mobile phone.
Twitter is a fun way to meet other people as well simply by looking at public updates and replying to them.
As fun as it is, I’m being pulled away from Twitter by Pownce which I will write about later.
