Oakley’s Half Jacket
My 2-3 years old Ray-Ban broke some months ago and I finally got new sunglasses. Oakley’s Half Jacket is an old model, but it has a great frame, great lenses and overall great design. All the pieces fit together and become one.
The frame is made of O Matter, Oakley’s own lightweight synthetic material mainly made of nylon composite. The nose pieces and ear socks are made Unobtainium, Oakley’s own rubber, which contributes to comfort and stability by increasing grip when it’s wet.
The lenses are made of Plutonite, Oakley’s own lens material which is mainly polycarbonate that can fully block UV radiation and it offers great clarity. It’s worth mentioning that the lenses are interchangeable even though I will probably never use this feature.
I got the sunglasses with bronze polarized. When I put them on for the first time under the bright sun, I was in shock. My vision was suddenly greatly enhanced and I partly felt like I was some sort of cyborg. I could see more contrast between objects and it feels like it’s sunny all the time, but this is probably due to the dark gold/orange lenses.
