The End of 2006

December 24th, 2006

So much has happened this month. Or it might not be much, but all the things that happened were huge.

It all started with the last day of November. We had a presentation of a project we were all working on since the beginning of the semester. The end of that project was a big load off.

After that, we had to study for an exam. That exam was a big deal to me, because not only was it my last exam of the semester, but it was also the last exam of my life. That was on December 11.

During the following week, we had a presentation to talk about our final project that will be exhibited in May 2007. We also had to work on a 15 page manifesto for the following monday.

Finally, there was a party last thursday. It was huge. There were more people from elsewhere than in design. I spent the night photographing the scenery and people. At midnight, everybody opened a 10-feet tall Christmas present. It was only filled with balloons and people started to blow them up or pick them and fight with each other, friendly fights. That was fun.

All of this is not a lot. With proper time management, it can all be easily dealt with.

The greatest surprise of all was an email from Autodesk asking whether I was interested in working with them. I received that email in the last week of November and I read it while I was working on the project I first mentioned in this post. At first I thought it was spam, then I realized that the phone number that was left for me was real.

After an interview, I received the job which is actually a 6-month contract to fill the position of Web Producer.

Basically the end of 2006 gives me a glimpse of what the first half of 2007 will be like and that’s busy, very busy with school stuff and everything.
