Google Services

Google services

I just noticed that Google added more links at the top left on Gmail and Google Calendar. I wonder why they just put those links on those two services. The only thing I don’t use is Photos which links to Picasa Web Albums. I guess the word beta is out of trend so Google decided to put TEST diagonally in capital red letters above the word Albums in the logo.

I don’t use Picasa because I much prefer Flickr. Google gives over 2 gigabytes of storage for Gmail and only 250 megabytes of storage for photos. Something isn’t right. If there was no Flickr and alternatives, I would rather store photos in Gmail which makes nice little thumbnails. Something else I don’t like about Google’s photo service is the fact that a software must be downloaded and installed before anything can even be uploaded.

Back to the links in Gmail and the calendar, Google should add Writely. That is a great service. It’s a great online text processor which I mentioned in Nobody needs to install Word.
