Flickr’s Down for Maintenance

This is something you really don’t see everyday. This is what you get at the time of this post, if you go on Flickr. I wonder how long it takes to move 20 terabytes and check if the transfer was fine. I don’t even have what it takes to store 20 terabytes of data.

At least, all the links to the photos linked to Flickr are working.

{Update} And now, a little than three hours later, Flickr is back online. Judging from the first comment below, Flickr must have very good equipment.

I can’t imagine transferring 20 Terabytes.. It took almost 4 hours to transfer 250 GB (SATA II’s on SATA 1 connection) and they were on the same motherboard. With that math; it would be about 16 HOURS for 1 TB, or 320 HOURS for 20 TB. Hopefully they can go a lot faster. Possibly they have multiple connections.
