I Didn’t Switch to Mac

All I did was add the cheapest MacBook to my collection of computers. I could have bought one of the small Sony Vaio, but they are pretty expensive and I wanted to try out a Mac.

I could mention a bunch of reasons why I like the MacBook, like Expose, keyboard shortcuts, eye-candy and others, but one of the things I find very convenient is the ability to scroll in every direction with the trackpad. It’s even better than scrolling with the wheel mouse.

I could also mention a bunch of reasons why I don’t like the MacBook and the one that stands out most is the unbearable heat after half an hour of usage. I know Apple doesn’t consider the MacBook series as laptops, but heat is a big issue.

Windows users have told me that all the eye-candy on Mac slow things down. I understand the concern, because it is absolutely true on Windows. Turn off the blue or silver theme of Windows XP and you will notice one hell of a difference in performance. Mac OS X has animations like zoom in/out and fade in/out all over the place and they never skip a beat -frame.

So, aside from the heat, my experience with the MacBook has been wonderful. This is the first time I own a Mac and I don’t think it will be the last.
