You Should Move When You Fight or Play Sports.

May 10th, 2006

“I don’t want to swing my arms to hit the ball in a baseball game”. I should probably mention that this statement isn’t about an actually baseball game. The comment is about the new revolution in gaming brought to life by Nintendo with their new console Wii. It will release sometime this year, most likely in the fall, but I will definitely welcome an earlier release.

Look at this video. Gaming will never be the same again. Sure, it will never replace actual sports, training, and other stuff that require lots of movements, but the reason about not moving and not doing anything while playing no longer exists. Gaming is becoming proactive. The confort of a chair or a couch could be unecessary. Our eyeballs might actually move more than they are now when we play video games. Feeling ridiculous when swinging at nothing, but a TV screen? I think that feeling is ridiculous and you might also tell those martial artists that they are ridiculous… punching and kicking at nothing… not even a TV screen.

The closest that gaming has ever come to get people to move while playing video games was with the steering-wheel (and maybe the guns that was for the Nintendo and Super Nintendo).
Ok, back to reality… I am going to buy this… when it’s out. The controllers from Playstation, Xbox and previous consoles of Nintendo all look boring now.
