Lord of War (2005)

January 3rd, 2006

Lord of War (2005)Lord of War is a very powerful movie starring Nicolas Cage as Yuri Orlov, a successful and clever arms dealer.

Not everyone can be a good narrator, but Nicolas Cage is just a natural. His voice just fits. Jared Leto really nails the role of Yuri’s brother. Bridget Moynahan has reached a new level of performance. Personally, I think it was a setback for her to have played in Coyote Ugly, because it’s roles like Ava Fontaine (Lord of War), Susan Calvin (I, Robot), Layla Moore (The Recruit) and Halley Buchanan (Serendipity) that suit her better.

The movie shows an arms dealer dealing with the morality of his work.

In the end, Lord of War isn’t just about weapons, it’s about the sad truths of reality that people create and must deal with in spite of them.

I can still hear Nicolas Cage’s narration. He has a very powerful voice.

“They say, “Evil prevails when good men fail to act.” What they ought to say is, “Evil prevails.”" —Yuri Orlov.
