Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Soundtrack (2005)

November 6th, 2005

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soundtrackThis soundtrack leaves me uneasy. It’s strange to see so much change in a production that should feature the same elements (cast, director, composer, …) throughout like Lord of the Rings.

The soundtrack of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is definitely different from the other ones. It is very odd that John Williams isn’t going to do all of the Harry Potter soundtracks like he did Star Wars. Goblet of Fire is composed by Patrick Doyle. It’s quite a jumpy album. From one track to another, there is a very different tone, especially for “Voldemort”, a very good 9-minute track.

Another different element from previous soundtracks is the three last tracks which are all vocal. It’s quite unusual for the soundtrack of a story of this stature. Personnally, I think the three last tracks makes Harry Potter lose all the magic of the story.

Overall, it’s so different that I want to watch the movie and see if the whole thing fits, because all this change intrigues me.
